BUHSD Parents and Guardians of Students who ride a school bus,

As a school district, we are experiencing complications that many districts across the state are experiencing with not having enough bus drivers to drive the routes that are needed.  As a district we are committed to getting our students to and from school, but because of the lack of certified drivers to drive our buses we are going to experience some complications to our mainstream routes and route run times for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year. These complications may or may not impact all our schools every day, but parents and students at all schools need to be prepared for these potential changes to our bus pick up and drop off practices.

Beginning Monday, March 21, 2022, please note that buses may run late for pick up in the morning and students need to be patient for up to 30 minutes beyond their normal pick-up time.  Should a bus run more than 30 minutes late please call 623-269-1063 for information.  Please also note that we will need to double up some of our routes with other routes to accommodate being as efficient as possible for both AM and PM routes.  In the afternoons for pick up, each bus will have a sign in the front window showing the bus routes that each bus will be transporting that day. There will no longer be a set 1st and 2nd run routes at campuses with double runs beginning on Monday.  Routes that are on the 2nd run routes currently could be moved to a 1st run route or vice-versa.  There will be a string of buses that will be going through the lineup, however, the route numbers that are on the 2nd string can vary.  There will no longer be a set lineup for buses and students need to look for the route sign in the window of the bus to know which bus to ride.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may be felt by our students and their parents.  We are working diligently to try and find additional bus drivers and will continue to do everything in our power to limit the troubles that may be caused by our current circumstance.

Thank you,

Dr. Steve Bebee

Superintendent
