BUHSD Update

BUHSD Families,

As we end the year 2020 and look forward to a new semester, I hope this email finds your family healthy and ready for all the opportunities the year 2021 will bring!

I do want to remind you that to begin the semester on January 4th, all campuses will follow the Wednesday Late Start Schedule for that first day.  We will also begin second semester in Distance Learning modality for all students for the first two weeks.  This will allow for an isolation/quarantine period for all students and staff after winter break activities.

Students who chose Option A, either hybrid or Distance, should be able to see their schedule in StudentVue beginning today.  Students who chose Option B will receive an email with information and log in information and instructions on January 4th.  If you have questions about your student’s schedule, please email your student’s school directly.

For those who continue to monitor the health benchmarks through our emails, over the past two weeks’ postings, we have seen increases.  Our overall risk level remains at the “substantial” level with the recommended learning scenario being “Virtual with On-Site Support”.  Specifically:

  • Cases: we had an increase from 689.44 cases to 801.61 per 100,000 population;

  • Percent Positivity: this percentage went from 19.16% to 19.8%;

  • Covid-like Illness: this benchmark increased from 10.20% to 12.8%.

We look forward to the start of a new semester!  Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Rob Roberson

Interim Superintendent
