Letter Grade Update-BUHS

November 15, 2022

BUHSD Community,

Yesterday, we received confirmation from the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) that they were able to verify the graduation rate at Buckeye Union High School and that Buckeye Union High School is no longer (UR) under review and that a letter grade has now been established.

We are pleased to share that Buckeye Union High School has also maintained the letter grade of a “B”; the same rating that all high schools in the district received the last time letter grades were given prior to the pandemic.

We are incredibly proud of our hard-working students, faculty, and staff who have put forth their best efforts throughout the past few years and the challenges we have all faced.  As a district, our focus continues to be on providing students with the best experiences possible while in high school, both inside and outside of the classroom, and preparing them to be Future Ready.  We want all students who graduate from BUHSD to have a pathway chosen where they individually can find success and happiness.

We do want to note that the state-mandated exams required of high school students has changed since the last time labels were released.  Previous exams were standards-based exams testing the Arizona Academic Standards taught in the required curriculum standards.  ACT, which is now given, is a national college entrance exam that includes content not covered in the standards we teach.

We appreciate your support of our students, faculty, and staff who serve them and hope you will join us in celebrating the continued achievement of our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Bebee
Superintendent
Buckeye Union High School District
